WELCOME TO THE AVE

May 4, 2014, will mark the 43'rd running of the Avenue of the Giants Marathon, the 23'rd for the 10K and the 13'th for the Half Marathon. Held annually on the first Sunday in May, these events, affectionately known as "THE AVE", draw folks from all around the US and the world. THE AVE has been cited by no less an authority than RUNNERS WORLD MAGAZINE as one of the most scenic courses in the country. Staged on "The Avenue of the Giants" in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, located in rural Northern California, the paved course winds through giant old growth redwoods and follows a natural creek and the Eel River. The Marathon is a certified Boston Qua;ifier and has been designated the WESTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MARATHON by the Road Runners Club of America. PLEASE NOTE!!!  Timing for the 2013 Ave is gun start - chip finish.  Chip times are used as a Boston Qualifier but not for awards.   Late starters will be timed as though they had started with the gun
