Y2K BUG FOUND!!!

Each year a search is made on or about the Avenue for a mammal or bird suitable for the Avenue of the Giants Marathon t-shirt design. Elegant eagles, controversial owls, graceful butterflies, lowly skunks, and even a slug, have graced the shirts presented to the runners. This year with all the talk about Y2K bugs, we thought a "bug" design on the tee shirt would be fun, so we searched the Avenue flora and fauna for an appropriate insect - perhaps a black beetle. Jill Borgeld, our artist for over a decade, came up with an excellent choice. Jill usually makes a concentrated ecological study regarding the chosen wildlife. This year Jill considered the kind of bug that humans might prefer to wear. Everyone, even Mozart, likes ladybugs. So this likable creature will be our "Ave Y2K Bug." And like her, after the race many runners will "fly away home."
