THE 2007 FEATURE CREATURE

A long time ago, when the animals could talk, they gathered together to solve a big problem. Something wonderful was missing in their world. They sensed that something was high up in the sky, but so high, they knew not what it was. Each animal tried to reach to where this thing was,but none seemed capable. Finally, eagle said that since he could fly and was the strongest of all birds he would fly up to the heavens and bring this thing back. But a tiny thrush knew better and hid herself on Eagle's back. Up Eagle flew, higher and higher, closer and closer; but eventually the mighty bird began to tire. He could not quite reach this thing. But just as he was about to turn back, the little thrush flew from his back. She reached the heavenly place and brought the wonderful thing back to earth for all to enjoy forever. This thing, this wonderful thing, was MUSIC. That is why the song of the thrush is said to be the sweetest of all music, and why she is our 2007 Feature Creature.
